Pakistan squad hit by injuries

With less than 4 weeks to go for the ICC World Twenty20, four members of the Pakistan squad have picked up injuries. Captain Shahid Afridi, who injured his finger, said that there was nothing to worry about as the injuries weren't serious.

Umar Gul picked up a shoulder injury, Fawad Alam injured his hand while Yasir Arafat is suffering from a calf injury.

"There have been a few fitness problems but it's natural because the camp has been tough so far. The boys are learning and I'm confident that our fielding will improve," Afridi said.

"Gul has a shoulder problem but I hope he would be okay in a few days while the rest of the boys should also be fully fit soon," Afridi was quoted as saying by The News

Confident of his team's chances at the World Twenty20, he said that the training will get lighter as the tournament approaches. "We will switch to lighter training in the final phase of the camp so that the players are fresh when we leave home to play the Twenty20 World Cup."

The tournament begins on 30th April. Defending champions Pakistan will play their first game against Bangladesh on 4th May.
